Addressing candidates at various examination centres in the region during a tour on Monday, Mr Osei Assibey urged the candidates to be courageous and not panic since the exams is like the normal school examination they write.
However, he warned them not to resort to cheating because the law will deal drastically with anyone found indulging in examination malpractices.
Speaking to DAILY GUIDE, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana Education Service (GES) in the Brong-Ahafo Region, Augustine Kusi, said the atmosphere was serene in all the centres visited by the regional directorate of education.
According to him, they have so far not recorded cases of mature students or pregnant female candidates writing the examination, indicating that there was minimal absenteeism in all the centres they visited.
41,026 candidates, made up of 22,278 males and 18,781 females, are writing the 2015 BECE examination in 155 centres in the Brong-Ahafo Region.
The examination which started yesterday will end on Friday, June 19. In all, 438,030 candidates, made up of 229,724 males and 208,306 females, are expected to write the examination in 1,546 centres across the country.
