Polytechnic Administrators Association of Ghana (PAAG) is calling for immediate review of the conditions of service for its members.
According to the outgoing National President of the Association, Peter Yaw Kosoe, the last conditions of service which was negotiated in 2007 for a two year period is outdated and needs to be reviewed immediately.
In an interview with a cross section of the media in Ho on the sidelines of the 5th Delegates Conference of the Association, Peter Yaw Kosoe lamented how the efforts of the association to get conditions reviewed have been fruitless.
The outgoing President said the Association has resolved to use all available means to ensure that the Fair Wages Commission get to the negotiating table to review the conditions of Service.
He cautioned government not to mistake their choice of dialogue to address the situation as a weakness.
''Its rather unfortunate that we have been working for the past eight years without conditions of service. It is something very serious and I hope that it will not get to the time when we always want to see agitations on the various campuses before we are attended to'' said Peter Yaw Kosoe.
The administrators are also calling for fair and equal treatment of all worker unions within the Polytechnic and the Universities.
The Deputy Volta Regional Minister Francis Ganyaglo assured the administrators of ten Polytechnics of government's commitment to Polytechnic education.
He said polytechnic and vocational education are key to the transformation of the Ghanaian economy, a reason why government is converting polytechnics into technical universities.
