Investigation into death of Takoradi Poly lecturer begins

Police in the Western Region have begun investigations into the circumstances that led to the death of a lecturer at the Takoradi Polytechnic whose dismembered body was found along the Kojokrom Sekondi railway line.

While some allege he was murdered and later dumped along the rail line, others believe he was killed by a fast moving train. Confirming the incident to Citi News, the Western Regional crime officer, Rueben Asiwoko said the Police have launched investigation into the circumstances that led to his death.

“Concerning the death of the lecturer we have launched our investigative apparatus into his death.”

The news of his death spread in the twin city last Saturday after some community members spotted the Takoradi Polytechnic Lecturer’s body who was later identified as Seth Dogbe popularly known as Setho’s body along the railway line from Kojokrom to Sekondi in the Essikadu Ketan Constituency.

Some members allege the lifeless body was dragged by alleged assassins unto the railway line for a train to run over him while others speculate that he might have been killed by a fast moving train.

The president of the Polytechnic Teachers Association of the Takoradi Polytechnic Asare Appiah speaking to Citi News also confirmed 55-year-old Seth Dogbe, has worked at the polytechnic for over five years at the Graphics Department of School of Applied Arts.

He narrated that “we heard somebody was dead on Saturday morning at Kojokrom and his body was found along the railway line.

Members of the locality who went there earlier identified him as Setho.” Later, members from the Polytechnic community also went there to confirm the said person as Seth Dogbe.

He added that “we then handed the matter to the Police for full investigation into the circumstances that lead to his death whether by a train or otherwise.”

“We are worried especially when we have no clue as to what led to his death. There is an atmosphere of people in pathetic mode.”

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at a mortuary at Funko in Takoradi pending autopsy.
