Mampong (Ash), April 17, GNA - The St Monica’s Junior High School (JHS) at Asante Mampong is building an Education Resource Centre in collaboration with the Asante Mampong Anglican Diocese.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony, on Thursday, the Right Reverend Cyril Kobina-Smith, the Anglican Bishop of Asante Mampong Diocese, praised the school’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA) for the bold initiatives taken to mobilize the needed resources for the GH¢600,000 project.
He said the Church would bring on board its members, former students of the School, as well as the citizens of Asante Mampong to assist in the execution of the project.
He said the Church and the state were partners in education delivery and the country’s development and the church would continue to provide the needed help to the mission schools.
Ms Augusta Achiaa Sarpong, the Mampong Municipal Education Director, advised parents to pay periodic visits to schools to interact with teachers for them to know the academic performance and behaviour of their wards.
She said investing in a child’s education was meant to prepare them for the world of work and leadership adding that parents must have time to monitor such an investment.
Ms Cynthia Ama Nyantakyi, the headmistress of the school, said the three-storey building which was to be built in phases, would have a library, science laboratory, an auditorium, ICT centre and Technical and a Home Science centre.
